Arrochar and Tarbet, Summer 2021

This trip taught me one simple lesson: the simplest route up a hill is often not just drawing a straight line, and that’s especially true in Scotland in summer. At the cost of more ticks than I could count, and bushwhacking up a steep hill through an overgrown thicket, I was rewarded with two fine nights of summit camping up Beinn Narnain and Ben Vane, tackling the latter through the unconventional route from its more gently sloped western aspect.
